Abstract
The 1836 memoir of Christoforos Perraivos, Rigas’s companion, member of the Philiki Etaireia and revolutionary general, was the first autobiographical text of a fighter to be published in liberated Greece. The book covers the entire revolutionary period and focuses on the military operations in which the author participated. In addition to its significance for military history, it is an exhibit of the history of ideas, attitudes and mentalities as it constitutes a public exposition of the author’s identity.
