Abstract

The conference is dedicated to the connection of the Greek Revolution with Europe, and more specifically with the Hapsburg Empire. The topics covered in the lectures are varied and focus on the presence of Greeks in the area of the Hapsburg Empire and the Danubian Principalities, such as Alexandros Ypsilantis and his imprisonment in Theresienstadt and Vienna, the presence of Phanariots in Brno, the Greek diaspora of Vienna and their reaction to the revolution, the Philiki Etaireia, the dress of the revolutionaries in the Danubian Principalities, and on the other hand the cultural contacts of the Czechs with modern Greece.
