Abstract
This event was organised in the context of the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution. The speakers, including two metropolitans, present and highlight the important role of the church in Viotia and the fighters from the region in the revolution. Special reference is made to the monasteries, education, the fighters, the Philiki Etaireia and philhellenism. The event seeks to make these issues known so that they will serve as an example for future generations.
