Abstract

This exhibition presents aspects of archaeological activity in Athens before and during the 1821 Revolution, as well as during the first years of the independence of the Greek state, through the action of Kyriakos Pittakis (1798–1863), the first Greek archaeologist, and through monuments that he himself saved.
