Abstract
The speakers present the publication by the Marxist Bookshop of the book “1821 and the bourgeois revolutions” and discuss some of the issues it raises. One of them is the integration of the 1821 Revolution in the context of the age of revolutions and the bourgeois character of these revolutions, which were the starting point of the rise of the bourgeoisie to power and capitalism. They also comments on national identity and celebrations of the revolution on the occasion of its bicentenary.
