Abstract
Vangelis Karamanolakis discusses with the historian Simos Bozikis about the public finances of the 1821 Revolution until the independence of the Greek state. Touching on a little-studied subject, the two interlocutors refer to a number of issues related to the struggle and the financial conditions for its successful conduct. The networks of the Philiki Etaireia, the Ottoman tax system, the national lands, the loans from foreigners are aspects of a complex history and the effort of the revolutionaries to establish state institutions from the beginning and to form a central organisation, through a highly conflicting process.
