Abstract
The delivery of the work took place on 18 November 2021, while the official unveiling ceremony of the “Monument of Light” is scheduled for 22 March 2022, the eve of the historic day for the city, the day of its liberation from the Ottoman yoke and the last day of the bicentenary of the 1821 Revolution. The piece is a modern work of art that marks the new face of the city in a visual way by combining its historical and modern image. The work consists of three main parts, the horizontal which is a reference to the power of man's desire for freedom, the vertical which is a reference to the revolution and the third, the photosculptural element, which visualises the concept of sacrifice for freedom, as intangible continuation of the material sculptural elements.
