Abstract

The prominent role of the Ypsilantis family in the 1821 Greek Revolution unfolds in the dramatised four-episode documentary series “Alexander and Dimitrios Ypsilantis: The Leaders of the Revolution”. The life and decisive action of Alexandros and Dimitrios Ypsilantis during the 1821 Revolution, as well as the strong Phanariot family from which they came, are reconstructed through interviews with historians and dramatised parts, which enliven the narration of events. The series “Alexandros and Dimitrios Ypsilantis: The Leaders of the Revolution” is based on the research of Iakovos Michailidis, associate professor of modern and contemporary history at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.”
