Abstract
In the third talk organised by the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida to mark the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution, the speakers highlight the connection between then and now, presenting a general historical context of the period of Ottoman rule, from the Fall of Constantinople to the Greek Revolution. They refer to the difficult life of the reaya, to the role of the church, to important personalities and finally to the pre-revolutionary movements from 1462 to 1821.
