Abstract
The fourth talk organised by the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida to mark the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution deals with the Battle of Martino on 29 January 1829. The mayor of Lokroi, Athanasios Zekentes, in his greeting, refers to the important role played by the battle in subsequent events. After a historical review of the battle, the speakers presented important events, analyse the timeline of the battle and the strategy of the chief, Vasos Mavrovouniotis. Finally, they refer to the contribution of the Martino people to the struggle for freedom.
