Abstract

The exhibition, “Argirofegis: Silver items of Ioannina”, includes objects of worship, luxury and beautification, from the 16th century to the present, by anonymous and famous silversmiths that are exhibited in the nine museums of the city (Archaeological, Byzantine, Treasury, Folklore, Museum, Frontzos, Silversmithing, Ali Pasha Museum and Nikolaou). The exhibits, evidence of the art and the technique of the Epirot silversmiths, and not only, are marked with discreet analogies. At the same time, the produce of Ioannina workshops, with modern manifestations of the aesthetics of the local silversmiths at the Centre of Traditional Crafts, give the general public the opportunity to get acquainted with the techniques and types of decoration of the art of silversmithing, in the Interactive Hall of Art History of Ioanniot Silverware.
