Abstract

The programme of the Parents’ School–Open University of Katerini for 2020-2021 includes talks by distinguished speakers to mark the bicentenary of the1821 Greek Revolution. Academics, hierarchs, politicians, doctors, etc. from America, Russia, Greece, Cyprus and Mount Athos illustrate with their research aspects of the epic struggle to liberate Greece from the Ottoman yoke. They in turn give a “global” dimension to the tribute of the Parents’ School to Greece’s national rebirth. In the second talk of the series, the speakers present descriptions and texts on pre-Revolutionary, revolutionary and post-revolutionary Greece, while they read texts on 1821 published by the newspapers of the time as well as by the fighters themselves.
