Abstract
The third book of the historian Nikos Tombros published by To Donti attempts, based on primary and secondary sources, to highlight aspects of the siege of Patras Castle that have not yet received due attention from historians and researchers and to restore the historical truth in legendary events, such as the alleged conflict between Germanos III of Old Patras and Ioannis Papadiamantopoulos in the first days of the siege of the castle. One of the first revolutionary centres of southern Greece in 1821, if not the primary one, was undoubtedly Patras. The first skirmishes in the urban area of the Achaean capital took place on 21 March 1821. However, despite the long siege of the castle of Patras (1821-1828) by the Greek revolutionaries, due to its strategic position, it remained under Ottoman occupation until October 1828, when the besieged Ottomans handed it over to Maison’s French troops.
