Abstract

This exhibition refers to the contribution of the Greeks to the liberation struggle of 1821 and was designed as an epilogue to a series of tributes and exhibitions on the national regeneration. At the same time, however, the exhibition functions as a reflection on the concept of the debt to those who sided with the Greeks in the difficult struggle, an exhibition that honours their memory. Its purpose is to give the initiates in historical subjects, the opportunity to see through “the eyes of art” and the friends of the visual arts, to gain historical knowledge. For the public, this exhibition is proposed as a dual pleasure for art and knowledge and for artists, a process of participation in historical commemoration and honouring.
