Abstract

The Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida organises a series of anniversary events in honour and memory of the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution under the blessing and auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. The event is dedicated to the struggle of the Greeks at sea. The speaker presents the achievements and the action of the subjected Greek in the naval struggle, emphasizing the huge contribution of ships, the naval merchant fleet and the fireships. It refers to the revolutionary movements of the islands such as Spetses, Hydra, Psara and the number of ships that took part in the naval battles. Finally, his message was that without the struggle at sea and without the courage, faith and self-denial of the fighters, the revolution would not have prevailed.
