Abstract
The presentation focuses on the pre-revolutionary situation and the first months of the Greek Revolution, up to the battle at the inn of Gravia and explores the path of Odysseas Androutsos from an armatole of Ali Pasha, a central figure of the revolution in eastern Central Greece. It examines Androutsos’ relations with Ali Pasha, but also with the social environment of Livadia, his initiation into the Philiki Etaireia, his stance in the conflict between Ali Pasha and the Ottoman Porte and the conditions under which he eventually participated in the revolution.
