Abstract
How do Greek Americans perceive the Revolution of 1821? The Greek Revolution is an integral part of the Greek consciousness, the national identity and the cultural life of the Greek diaspora. It is celebrated in various ways by communities and clubs, taught in all Greek schools, covered by local Greek newspapers and provides an inspiration for artistic and theatrical creations.
This edited volume aims to cover the presence of the Greek Revolution in the history, architecture, art history, school and daily life of Greeks in the United States and Canada. The interdisciplinary dialogue between the authors aims to better understand the past and the current significance of the Greek Revolution as it shapes the identity of the Greeks of the diaspora.
