		                                            Abstract
Talk by His Eminence Panteleimonos, Metropolitan of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania, within the framework of the series of talks on “Blood of Martyrs and Heroes” marking the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution. The 13th talk deals with the role and contribution of the philhellenes. The great impact that the Greek Revolution had all over the world provoked the mobilisation and support of Europe and America who helped in every way in the struggle for freedom. The metropolitan mentions specific countries such as Germany, France and England but also pioneers of the philhellenic movement such as Lord Byron. Finally, he mentions the philhellenic women, underlying their selfless contribution and sacrifice.
