Abstract
Talk by His Eminence Panteleimonos, Metropolitan of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania, within the framework of the series of talks on “Blood of Martyrs and Heroes” marking the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution. The 14th talk is dedicated to the “teachers of the nation”. These were bright figures who contributed to the education and preparation of the struggle and aimed at preserving the Christian faith and the Greek conscience. One of the above who stood out in the area of Veria was Bishop Theofilos Papafilou, an excellent ecclesiastical figure who fought for the spiritual advancement and education of the Greeks by founding schools and colleges.
