Abstract
Talk by His Eminence Panteleimonos, Metropolitan of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania, within the framework of the series of talks on “Blood of Martyrs and Heroes” marking the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution. In his second talk, he honours the church fathers and highlights their contribution to the resurrection of the Greek nation and the self-sacrifice of the clergy for the revolution. He underlines the militant role of priest-teachers in keeping the desire for freedom alive through education. Finally, he mentions the new martyrs and Patriarch Grigorios V.
