Abstract
"The Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera presented the great work “Asikiko Poulaki” by Mikis Theodorakis, with lyrics by Michalis Ghanas, as part of the three-year cycle of Mikis Theodorakis. The new performance of the project, through the approach of the artistic director of Estudiantina Nea Ionia Andrea Katsigianni, with the participation of Estudiantina Nea Ionia and soloist Giannis Dionysiou, will be presented at the Alternative Stage of GNO. The new approach to this particular work by Giannis Dionysiou and Estudiantina Nea Ionia, a distinguished and well-traveled traditional music orchestra that creatively serves the continuation of the multi-collection Smyrnaean tradition, promises to bring to the Alternative Stage a modern and productive reconnection of the Theodorakis inspiration with its traditional, Ionic roots."
