Abstract
A concert inspired by Eugène Delacroix’s visit to the estate of George Sand at Nohant, a place of encounter for intellectuals. It hosted discussions on philhellenism, Romanticism and the descriptions of the historical events in Greece, in particular, as well as the uprising of the fertile island of Chios that infuriated the sultan. The news about the massacre in Chios overwhelmed and inspired Delacroix to paint his renowned painting. Kanaris’ feat, who attached his fireship to the Ottoman flagship, setting it aflame. The event also looks at the texts that accompanied Frédéric Chopin’s heroic music pieces, Polonaises, studies, ballads and others.
