Abstract

Hundreds of students from kindergartens and primary schools from all over Greece took part in the competition that took place on the occasion of the celebration of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution. With a focus on learning through art, the values of heroism, fair struggle, freedom, bravery that the evzones symbolise were reflected in the children’s works, inspiring the generations of Greeks over time. Evzones are part of the collective memory of our place and proof of the eternal continuity of our cultural heritage. But they are also part of the modern urban fabric, of Greek society and the reality we experience. That is why we must keep alive this precious legacy in the present and the future, inspiring with new ideals and values the new generation and the future citizens of our homeland.
