Abstract
To mark celebrate World Poetry Day, the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the Hellenic Author’s Society are hosting an online event entitled “Poetry, shortly before and after 1821, and the modern Greek Enlightenment”” The event, which is being held on the occasion of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution, presents aspects of prerevolutionary Greek poetry through rare musical material and images and readings of poems by actors Olia Lazaridou, Marilita Lambropoulou, Giannis Dalianis, talks by Giannis Kokkonas, Giannis Xourias, Katerina Tiktopoulou, while soprano Sonia Theodoridou sings Solomos’ melodic poetry.
