Abstract
On the occasion of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution, the idea of a group art installation was born and developed in the Holy Monastery of the Annunciation of the Virgin, in Skiathos, on the subject of the Greek flag. On the island where in 1807 the first blue and white of the beginning of the revolution was designed, woven and raised. Nikotsaras, a glorious leader of thieves from Thessaly, had taken refuge there in 1807. Together with the famous captain Giannis Stathas, they had chosen Skiathos as a base for their pirate fleet. In the context of the bicentenary exhibition, in the emblematic historical place of its presentation, forty distinguished but also very young Greek artists whose work, although very modern, emerges through many years of research, experiments, experiments, studies and intensive reproduction of traditional manual methods. in the formation of an independent, dense organic field with artistic, plastic and symbolic references to a valuable historical event.
