Abstract

The bicentenary of the Greek struggle for independence is the occasion for a solemn connection of Zeus + Dione with the Benaki Museum family. A historical museum and a fashion house that share a passion for Greek heritage and values that resist time, techniques and craftsmanship, are coming together for the first time to celebrate tradition, with an eye to the future ... in the creation of the ’21 collection, which envisages a rapid restart for everything Greek. Two more Greek brands with an international profile are also participating. Jewellery designer Ileana Makri has created a line of silver jewellery that evokes the embroidery and decorative elements of traditional men’s waistcoats, and is made using the ancient technique of threading, while Ancient Greek Sandals has designed sandals that acknowledge the revolutionary past while addressing the women of today.
