Abstract
Marking the bicentenary of the 1821 Revolution, this tribute, written with the rationale of a rough historiography, gives the reasons that decisively contributed to the manifestation of the revolution. Without a doubt, the Greek Revolution sealed the era of modernity and is a milestone in the history of the 19th century. The passion and the expectation for freedom and self-determination make this anniversary the most important event of modern Greece, but at the same time they compose the causes that contributed to the foundation of the modern Greek state.
