Abstract
Christos Vyzantios, born in 1804 in Constantinople, came to revolutionary Greece at a very young age, in 1823. He fought in Nafplio, Karystos, Haidari, the Acropolis, Chios and elsewhere as a member of the newly formed, small regular army that was scorned by the majority of the chieftains of 1821. For this reason, his story, first published in 1837 and in a more extensive and revised form in 1874, is one of the rarest and most valuable testimonies of the Greek Revolution.
