Abstract

As part of its series of talks on 1821, the Iakovatios Library held its 12th and final online discussion on the topic “Revolution and independence. Discussion on two books on 1821”. The speaker presents his two books “Against fortresses and walls: A short introduction to the Greek Revolution" (Athens: Dioptra, 2020) and “The defence of free Greece, 1825-1827: The critical confrontations that led to the foundation of Greek Independence” (Athens: Dioptra, 2021). It presents the entire duration of the struggle and historical events which it tries to decode and interpret while at the same time mentioning the springs and the motives of the Greeks for uprising.
