This book on Ioannis Kapodistrias presents in detail the reclusive Greek politician, the creator of the new Greek state, as a leader, governor, diplomat and as a man. The greatness of the man is highlighted by what he applied as governor, declaring: “As long as my private income is enough for me to live on, I refuse to guarantee even public money, while we are in the middle of ruins and people immersed in the last misery.” This was the first governor of Greece.
