Abstract

In the context of the celebration of the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution, the municipalities of Kordelio–Evosmos and Pavlos Melas pay joint tribute to its protagonists, especially to those who took action in those parts of Macedonia now covered by the municipalities. The Ziakas and Karatasos uprisings (1854) and the “Provisional Government of the Macedonian Province of Elimia” in Vourinos (1878) are the revolutionary legacy of the struggles of Emmanouil Pappas, Captain Hapsas, Zafeirakis and other Macedonian fighters of 1821 in the long 19th century.
