Abstract

“The exhibition is a rather daring undertaking, as the artists were asked a subject which is not easy. In an anniversary period such as the one we live in, through events we try to crystallise the narrative as it has been created until today. The problem was that the artists of the 19th century shaped and gave the perspective of an era in which everything revolved around the creation of nation-states and the shaping of history. The question for us was where the people come into this narrative. That is, we have the heroisation, we have the sanctification of specific forms, the idealisation but essentially where the people are. That is, where is this mass that always goes unnoticed in our history.”
