Abstract
Rumelia and to a very large extent the region of Fthiotida contributed decisively to the success of the Greek Revolution. The battle of Vasilika, Diakos and the battle of Alamana, the cenotaph and its statue in Diakou Square, the house of Diovouniotis, the siege of Mendenitsa, the battle of Ypati, the meeting of the chiefs in the plane trees of Kompotades. Two hundred years later, the above locations await rediscovery. BelleArteLamia, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lamia, the Public Central Library of Lamia and the Municipal Regional Theatre of Rumelia, invited photographers from the area to “capture” them with a different, modern look. Highlighting through the art of black and white photography their power and reminding us of the brilliant pages of history which were written with the blood of our ancestors in exactly in these places!
