Abstract
The Holy Metropolis of Zakynthos, through the Alithos centre of the Parish of Vanato and within the framework of the online lecture series marking the bicentenary of the National Uprising of 1821, hosts a series of talks on the Greek Revolution. The fourth talk in the series is dedicated to the new martyrs and Theofilos of Zakynthos. It details the lives and sacrifices of these first heroes of the revolution. Theofilos was a light in the darkness of the Ottoman Empire as he refused to convert and became a role model for many who followed his example of self-sacrifice.
