Abstract
Talk by His Eminence Panteleimonos, Metropolitan of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania, within the framework of the series of talks on “Blood of Martyrs and Heroes” marking the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution. The fourth talk is entitled “Sacrifice in the life of the Greeks”. The speaker states that the Feast of the Annunciation is holy as it marked the declaration of the revolution. The Greeks are the special people who dared to rise up against the enemy with many sacrifices for freedom, civilisation and Christ. Their contribution, as well as that of the Church Fathers, was enormous for the miracle of liberation.
