Abstract
In the context of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution, the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and of the Modern History of Macedonia, in collaboration with the collectors Giorgos Gaitanaris and Ios Dolka, as well as the Library of the Hellenic Parliament, presents visual works and archival material that represent, narrate and illuminate moments of the glorious Revolution of 1821.The visual part of the exhibition includes 24 coloured lithographs by Zographos, Bost’s work “The Elder Hero Skaltsodimos”, Fotis Kontoglou’s work “Theodoros Kolokotronis the old man of the Morea” and “Andreas Miaoulis, the new Themistocles” and the sculptural work “Perikephalia suicide” by Thodoros Papadimitriou, while important documents of the period, such as Kapodistrias’ letters, are presented to the public of Thessaloniki for the first time.
