Abstract
The Holy Diocese of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios honours Saint Damaskinos Stouditis, metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Artis during the 16th century and an important teacher of the nation, with a special event at the Spiritual Centre of the Church of Agios Dimitrios with the theme “The warming of the heroic spirit by Saint Damaskinos, Metropolitan of Nafpaktos, at the beginning of Ottoman rule.” The purpose of the event is to present the life of Saint Damaskinos, his influence on the Orthodox people but also to provide answers and important information to the following questions: How a pastor of the church warmed the spirit of the subjected Greeks, what are the roots of heroism and what are its manifestations and how did Saint Damaskinos finally succeed as a scholar, theologian, educator with many writings to encourage the heroic spirit of the heroes.
