Abstract
The Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida organises a series of anniversary events in honour and memory of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 under the blessing and auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. The talk is dedicated to the Philiki Etaireia. The first speaker refers to the spiritual company that had as purpose the organisation and the energy of the national liberation struggle and the coordination of the Greeks everywhere to achieve this sacred purpose. It gives information about the life and work of its founders and emphasises the participation and initiation of the clergy and the church in it. The second speaker presents a different aspect of the Philiki Etaireia and refers to a leading and dedicated member, Panagiotis Anagnostopoulos. He provides information about his life and education, about his role in the society and his general activities.
