Abstract
“On the occasion of 1821” takes a different view of 1821, through a game with time and memory was designed by the Bodossakis Foundation and curated by journalist Maria Katsounaki, in the context of the foundation’s participation in the Initiative 1821–2021. Celebrities from the fields of acting, history, literature, gastronomy, economics, directing, philosophy, sociology, music, theoretical computer science, sport and civil society shared a personal thought, a reflection, an event, which connects the story of each with this great history. The speaker refers to the depictions of the heroes of 1821 which we owe to two Bavarians: Karl Krazeisen, who sketched painted pencil portraits in 1826-27, and the painter Peter von Hess. We know the forms of the heroes from the representations of their portraits.
