Abstract

Rigas Velestinlis was one of the most emblematic and recognisable figures of the modern Greek Enlightenment, and at the same time a charming personality who continues to provoke with his work, his revolutionary ideas and the impact they had, discussions and interest to this day … The educational program “Rigas, the Charta and his friends: The people behind the map” explores the circle of people who contributed, with ideas or in practice, to the shaping of Rigas’s ideas, to his collection rich and important content of the Charta, its creation and distribution, revealing the more or less known friends and associates of the great revolutionary. The games and activities that accompany the programme help us to understand the functions and uses of the map and become for a while assistant cartographers in Rigas’ workshop.
