Abstract
The book suggests reading the events of the 1821 Revolution through the medical and health procedures that took place up to the death of Ioannis Kapodistrias and seem to have started in 1790, if not earlier. The 1821 Revolution, from a medical and health perspective, had its roots in the transformations in the imperial government of health, which manifested themselves in places and in a fragmentary way since the 18th century. However, the violence of the war decade of 1821-1831, the emergence of a dynamic medical and bureaucratic staff, the influences of the philhellenes and the medicine of the early 19th century, which promoted the desacralisation of the body and politics, contributed decisively to institutionalization and stabilization of the transformations in the Southern Balkans, in order to shape the conditions for the formation of Greek public health.
