Abstract
The Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida organises a series of anniversary events in honour and memory of the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution under the blessing and auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. The event is dedicated to the battle that took place in Lefkochori on 20 July 1821. The speaker presents this historic event that coincided with the feast day of the Prophet Elijah, who helped in the positive outcome of the battle. The Greek leaders were Komnas Trakas, Vassilis Bousgos, Chalkioutis and Manikas against Demir Pasha. He underlines the great resistance of the Greeks and their sacrifice. Finally, the conservatory of the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida performed songs about the Greek Revolution.
