Abstract
The Ahepa Konstantinos Paleologos Chapter HJ-41, Kalamaria, host an event on “The Road to the 1821 Revolution: Education and culture”. The first speaker describes the three periods of education (1453-1530, 1530-1620, 1620-Greek Revolution) and the life of the reaya during the Ottoman Empire. He underlines the important role of education in the revolution and refers to the development and cultivation of education with the establishment of schools and the role of the teachers of the nation. The second speaker presents the dramatic influence that was exercised in the struggle and in the way that the theatre influenced the revolution and mentions theatrical writers and actors of the time.
