Abstract
The Corfu branch of Ahepa and Ahepa Hellas honour the pioneers of the 1821 Greek Revolution and the bicentenary of the raising of the banner of the revolution by Germanos of Old Patras. At the invitation of Ahepa Corfu, Nektarios, Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, presents in an online event the decisive role of the church during the revolution. The sacrifices of priests and people of the church were many. With their actions and attitude, they sealed the success of the revolution, encouraged its supporters and were a crucial pillar at the beginning of the struggle for liberation from longstanding Turkish subjugation.
