Abstract
The Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida organises a series of anniversary events in honour and memory of the bicentenary of the 1821 Greek Revolution under the blessing and auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. In historical Mendenitsa, where the meetings of the Rumeliot chiefs took place in 1821, as well as many other important events from antiquity until today, the unveiling of an important monument, dedicated to the bicentenary of the revolution and the fighters of Mendenitsa took place. Also presented, under the supervision of Christos Haldoupis, associate professor of the Department of Physics of the University of Crete, were three important publications of learned authors, all from Mendenitsa. The anniversary publications concern fighters of 1821 from Mendenitsa, population information about the area and generally about the participation of Mendenitsa in the Greek revolution until about 1840.
