Abstract

The Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida organises a series of anniversary events of honour and memory for the 200 years since the Greek Revolution of 1821 under the blessing and auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. The event is dedicated to Saint Cosmas of Etolos, who with his work helped maintain the spiritual uplift of the Greek slave. His tours contributed significantly to the rebirth of the soul of the enslaved Greek with the help of faith. He is a prominent ecclesiastical figure, but at the same time national and educational, combining freedom with education and faith, focusing on theological and pedagogical value. The speaker researches the action, the work, his teachings and his tours in Western and Northern Greece and Epirus. The topic of his presentation is "The intellectual preparation of the Greek revolution of 1821 through the teachings of Agios Kosmas of Etolos”.
