Abstract
The sixth anniversary of the 2015 referendum falls on 27 June 2022. An anniversary of contemporary history intersects with the bicentenary of the 1821 Revolution. Evangelos Venizelos talks with Michalis Tsintsinis and tries to place the events of 2015 in the great historical context of the two centuries of national life. He speaks of the inward belief of the Greeks in the “philhellenism of God”, of the referendum verdict that turned out to be “airy” and of the “oriental sin” that marks the national soul since the national rebirth. The discussion was occasioned by the publication of the book “Laboratory of Greece” by Epikentro. The volume collects the proceedings of the conference organised by the Circle of Ideas for the 1821 Bicentenary.
