Abstract
Every year, at every national celebration, at parades, at awards for athletes at the Olympic games, we listen and sing our national anthem. A song well-known to all of us which gives us the goosebumps and emotion. But what is this song? Who wrote it and what do its lyrics mean? A story that began in Zakynthos, was printed in Messolonghi and later set to music in Corfu was the reason for everyone to believe in a new, independent state. The purpose of the workshop is for the children to come into contact with the “Hymn to Freedom”, the life and work of Dionysios Solomos and Nikolaos Mantzaros, to raise awareness of poetry and to express themselves poetically and visually.
