Abstract

On the occasion of the bicentenary the Greek Revolution, a painting competition was organised for the children of Alpha Bank Employees, on the initiative of the bank’s Numismatic Collection. A total of 272 children aged 6-12 years, from every corner of Greece, were inspired by the Greek Revolution and painted heroes, battle scenes, naval battles, symbols of the 21st century and scenes of everyday life of this important historical period. Their paintings are full of colour, imagination and enough originality. Two hundred years later, the works of our little friends show that children understand the importance, values and messages of the Greek Revolution, while there is no lack of correlations with today!
