Abstract
The Regional Directorate of Primary & Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Regional Centres for Educational Planning of Central Macedonia and the Science Dissemination Centre and Technology Museum (NOISIS), held a commemorative event entitled "From the slate and the stick to the screen and the keyboard".
In the online event-marathon, which lasted almost nine hours and was attended by more than 5,000 people, approximately 50 schools and partnerships of schools from Central Macedonia, as well as two Orthodox High Schools from Moscow and Bucharest, participated. Particularly moving was the presence of the Special Schools of the Ahepa Hospital, which presented the works of the hospitalised children.
The purpose of the event was to highlight the timeless contribution of education to the struggle of 1821 from "the checkerboard and the board", with the display of games of the time, such as backgammon and blind man's buff, to "the digital age and the keyboard", where little students highlighted the differences of their lives from the lives of children in the revolution.
